I just found this blog in an old email account. I moved to Maine a while ago and built a house. I'll post pics soon.

Sri Lanka - Vil Ulyana, Sigiriya
For the Eid holiday I went to explore Sri Lanka with a friend from Dubai. It was an amazing trip that covered the south coast which was devistated by the Tsunami in 2004, as well as the hill country and some of the most incredible historic sites I have ever seen. The following posts show just a few of the many cool things we saw.
Sri Lanka - Sigiriya ancient city
This ancient city comes striaght from the day dreams of all young boys who build forts. Surrounded by a moat filled with man eating crocodiles and poisonous snakes, sitting on top of a 200 meter high peak with sheer cliffs on all sides, was an amazing paridise built by King Kasyapa more than 1000 years before Columbus discovered America.
A huge boulder perched on pillars to push off the cliff to crush the advancing army.
A formal reception area for your subjects.
Cobra rock to scare off the enemy.
An olympic size swimming pool in your palace on the top of the mountain to entertain your many wives.
And a royal thrown to watch over your the activities in your pool.
And a royal thrown to watch over your the activities in your pool.
Within the safety of his walled gardens, he kept his 500 wives.
The ancient paintings still recount life at Sigiriya 1500 years ago.
Like any good fort, after crossing the jungle and climbing the mountain, visitors must enter between the paws of a giant Lion, and into his open mouth to climb to the top.
Sri Lanka - Dambulla Rock Temple
In the center of Sri Lanka there is an ancient Budhist Temple at Dambulla. On top of a mountain that rises from the jungles and paddy fields you find Dambulla Rock Temple built in natural caves about 1000 years ago.
Buddah statues in the main cavern.
The ceilings and walls of the caverns are painted with natural dyes that have lasted all this time.
